Shaken and served straight up in a coupe, glass, the White Lady cocktail is a classic that is made with gin, triple sec, and lemon juice. Some may prefer to add egg white and some may not. Egg white or not, the gin triple sec and citrus trio is endorsed ever since the cocktail was created. The initial recipe created by Harry MacElhone while working at London Ciro's Club in 1919 consisted of brandy, creme de menthe and Cointreau, but this was later replaced and reaffirmed in a later version he created with gin, triple sec and lemon.
